Challenging the Stigmas of Mental Illness
Founded in memory of Jared Zimmerman (1995–2016), we support youth leadership and build a more open, compassionate community.
“May the road rise up to meet you, may the wind be always at your back, may the sun shine warm upon your face, and the rain fall softly upon your fields, and until we meet again, dear Jared, may God hold you in the palm of Her hand.”
— Jackie and Ken, April 19, 2016
Our Mission
Building a world where mental illness is met with compassion
Jared grew up in Montclair, loved people, music, philosophy, and the outdoors. Around his junior year of high school, he developed what was likely schizophrenia. His illness led to his death on April 15, 2016, at age 20.
In his memory, our family and community created Jared's Fund to reduce stigma, create supportive spaces, and empower young people to lead the conversation on mental health.
